The Mombasa Kadhi’s Court, led by Head of Station Abdiaziz Mohamed, held its Open Day at Treasury Square, Mombasa, under the theme “Get to Know the Kadhi’s Court.”
The event aimed to create public awareness on the roles, mandate, and jurisdiction of the Kadhi’s Court in Kenya. Members of the public were also sensitized on the mediation process and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, which promote peaceful settlement of disputes outside the formal court process.
The Open Day provided a valuable platform for the Judiciary to engage directly with the community, enhance understanding of Islamic family law, and encourage the use of mediation in conflict resolution.
Among those in attendance were Justice Gregory Mutai and Senior Principal Kadhi Abduljabar Ishaq, who commended the initiative for fostering openness and accessibility in the administration of justice.
